“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven.”
- James 5:14-15
Let’s scroll down memory lane. I know some of us have seen this in our house before. Probably your grandma or your mama had it somewhere in her kitchen or near her Bible. Its called holy oil or anointing oil. This oil was introduced in the Old Testament to anoint the priests in Tabernacles.
Acorrording to Mark 6:13, this oil drove out many demons and healed the sick.
This is the time to bring the elders and saints of the church to anoint God’s people. We have strayed away from what our grandmothers or the elders of the church have taught us. We have become so comfortable with what is going on in the world that we have forgotten about the power of prayer. Faith without works is dead. If we can’t take the time out to kneel down and pray then do not expect God to do all the work.
Psalms 95: 6-7 tells us to worship and bow down, take a kneel before the Lord, for He is our God. We are God‘s people and He is our shepherd and we shall not want for anything. God will supply our every need all we have to do is call upon His name.
That is the oil that my mom used to anoint her body. That is the oil she used to anoint and pray over me. That is the oil that she used to bless her house. That is the same oil that I use to bless my house. Also the same oil that I use when I kneel down to pray. Anointing oil is blessed with a secret ingredient from our God. And I am a witness that it works.
We have to take it a step back, ask God to anoint and bless the oil, and allow that oil to heal us from the crown of our heads to the souls of our feet. It takes us taking the time out to get on our knees and pray to God for a miracle to happen.
God healed the lame and caused the blind to see. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. God wants us to take it a step back and do what our elders taught us and have a strong prayer life and I promise you God is going to do the rest.
