“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing songs to God. The other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was an earthquake so strong that it shook the foundation of the jail. All the doors of the jail opened, and the chains on all the prisoners fell off.”
Acts 16:25-26 ERV
Paul and Silas were servants of the Lord and allowed the spirit to guide them. They prayed and singed praises to God until an earthquake shook the jail and the chains of the prisoners fell off. Their loyalty and commitment to God was consistent and they did not allow anything or anyone to stray them away from God.
This is to teach us to be loyal servants to God. No matter what we are faced with in life God will never leave us and we should not stray away from Him. God hears and sees everything that we do. When we praise God we are telling the devil that we are going to praise God no matter what and that Satan will not win. Don’t give Satan the power to get you to stray away from God. When we get discouraged and give up on God we are giving Satan power and control over our emotions and decisions. Satan does not want us to be happy, he does not want us to trust God, and will do whatever it takes to ensure that God does not get the victory. But our praises to God is what shuts the devil up and puts him back in his place.
We have to show Satan whose we are and we are God‘s children and no matter what we go through, we should praise God through it all. I have praised myself out of a lot of situations. The situation seemed bad, it seemed as if I would never get over it, and I always felt discouraged. But one thing I never did was lose hope and my praise remained consistent with God through my good and through my bad.
You have to praise your way out of this and allow God to do his thing. God does not need our help nor does He need us giving up on Him. But once we start to pray and lift praises up to God, you will see changes and see the things that God can and will do for you. For the song says, “Praise is what I do, when I want to be close to you.” And I want to be close to God and seek His presence so that I will never lose my hope and trust in Him.
Praising God can be clapping your hands, stomping your feet, singing, praying, thanking Him, playing an instrument, etc. God is thankful for whatever it is that you do to praise His name and He will honor that by blessing you abundantly and above. I remember when I used to give God a ”pretty praise” and I would not allow Him to really use me. It is now I do not care how I look and what people may think or say about me when I am praising God. Because I know all my help comes from the Lord and when I praise God through my good and bad, He blesses me like never before.
I will never allow anything or anyone hinder me from praising God because my breakthrough is near and I am going to praise my way out of this
storm. And I will come out better and stronger than ever. Just remember to never lose your hope and do not stop praising God.
