I want to talk about being 𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑏𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑑. Being spiritually blind does not mean that you are legally blind at all, it means that you are not seeing or hearing the things of God. God's Word is to guide our footsteps in the way we should go, but some of us are missing the message that God is trying to give us because we are spiritually blind. You're probably wondering why would I call it being spiritually blind.
The reason is I have been surrounded by people who knows what the spirit of the Lord says, they know what the Word says, they know right from wrong, and what is of God, but they still chose to be blinded by 𝑠𝑖𝑛 and 𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑟𝑢𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 to where they can no longer hear or see the spirit of the Lord. The message and the spirit is right there in front of them but they can't hear or see God. In 𝐼𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑎ℎ 42:16 it says,
"I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,
along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn the darkness into light before them
and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do;
I will not forsake them"
I encourage you to read the entire chapter, but in this chapter God was talking about his chosen servant in the nation of Israel and how they failed to hear and see what God was trying to tell them so that he could lead them. When we think about darkness we cannot see but in the light, we can see things clear. When we listen God will take those dark blinders off and give us 𝑙𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 to see. Then verse 20 says,
"You have seen many things, but you pay no attention;
your ears are open, but you do not listen.”
Here we see that our eyes and ears can be open as wide as they can be, but it does not mean that we are listening to the spirit of the Lord. When God gives us a message, He is trying to guide us in the right footsteps. That message may be for us personally or for someone else. But when God is trying to come in and talk to us, fully open your eyes and ears to what God is trying to tell you. There are times where I have misunderstood what God was trying to tell me all because I wanted to do it my way. But I have learned it is either going to be His way or no way. God does not lead us in the wrong direction nor will he leave us nor forsake us.
But I need all of you to take your blinders off! The spirit of the Lord is always whispering something to me or showing me something throughout my day. I have learned to be patient, still, and open minded to what he was trying to show me. Being spiritually blind is common for all of us because we sometimes miss what God is trying to tell us when we have our blinders on. Take those blinders off and 𝑙𝑒𝑡 𝐺𝑜𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑛. Give that time to him, so that you can listen to what it is that he wants you to do.
This message is for myself also, because sometimes I get so caught up in things during my day that I forget to pray, or I forget to be still and listen to him; not giving him the time that he needs. We have to stop being blinded by sin and the things of the world. This week I want you to 𝑆𝑇𝑂𝑃, 𝐿𝑂𝑂𝐾, and 𝐿𝐼𝑆𝑇𝐸𝑁 to what God is trying to tell you. I want you to put the past, your worries, your fears, disappointment, and anything blinding you at this moment; to put it behind you and leave it there. It is time to move forward and step into the light of the spirit so that we can be faithful servants of God.
