As we know Thanksgiving just passed and Thanksgiving is a holiday that we all think about what we are thankful for. Being thankful always seems simple to people or something we automatically do. After a week off from work and being at home, I realized how ungrateful I was being. I was looking at the fact that my parents were not here and that the holidays would not be the same without them. I just had this mindset that I had nothing to be thankful for. So I prayed, and I asked God to help me, to change my mindset, and show me that I can be thankful. Later on that day, I read my daily scripture and it was 𝑃𝑠𝑎𝑙𝑚 100:5 and it reads,
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
The words seem simple but sometimes we forget how blessed we are and that we should be thankful just for God's Word. God's Word continues to remind us that he loves us, he will remain faithful to us, he is good, he will never leave us nor forsake us, and that he will be there for us. When we pray we ought to give God thanks and praise, for he is always good. If God woke you up, that is something to be thankful for. Food on the table, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, and simply being alive; is everything to be thankful for. I thank God for reminding me that without a mom or a dad, he is still with me and he has not left me, all I have to do is depend on him and trust him.
Even our struggles in life, we should be thankful for them. I often get discouraged because of what I am going through and how I wish things were different. But I spend so much time focusing on my struggle and forgetting to thank God for what I do have and that it could be worse. It is so hard to be thankful when you are in certain situations, because it feels as though God has left you or does not hear your prayer. But God does hear your prayer, and he does see your struggle, but the word tells us that God does not put more on us than we can bear.
I believe when we focus our thoughts on what God has already done for us and what we already have, things will begin to change for us and we will not feel discouraged about things that are beyond our control. But we have the power and control now to tell our God, thank you!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday and that they told God thank you!!! Everyday is a day of thanks because God allowed us to be here even when we could have been gone. But because God is not through with you, you ought to press on and be thankful for what he has done for he is good and his grace and mercy will last forever.
I encourage you to tell God "𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑘 𝑦𝑜𝑢", when you wake up, when you leave the house, when you are driving, while you are at work or at school, when you eat, when someone gives you something or does something for you, and before you go to sleep at night. We can tell God thank you a million times a day and it
still would not be enough.
Lord, we simply just want to say thank you!
