𝐶ℎ𝑜𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑃𝑎𝑡ℎ 𝐹𝑜𝑟 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝐽𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑦

We have finally journeyed into 2021 and the second month of the year. I have been wanting to do a fast but did not know when I wanted to do it. I decided to participate in something called 𝐹𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐹𝑒𝑏𝑟𝑢𝑎𝑟𝑦. Of course, during fasting you are giving up something and dedicating more of your time to God.

As I was on my way to work God started speaking to me about “𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑗𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑦 𝑎ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑑.” While I was driving, I was checking a notification on my phone and I drove off the side of the road. Well, most roads now have grooves in them on both the left and right side and even in the middle. When I ran off the road, of course it scared me a little because of the sound it makes when you drive over those grooves. As I got back in my lane God said to me, “𝐼𝑡 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒𝑠 𝑎 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑜𝑓𝑓 𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑘, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑖𝑡 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑚𝑢𝑐ℎ 𝑡𝑜 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑜𝑛“

When I heard this, it made me giggle because I should not have been on my phone, but a word came from me doing so. Although, we stumble and fall and have fallen short of the glory of God, God will pick us up so that we can keep going. I continued to talk to God and ask him what else he wanted me to know. He ministered to me about choosing the path you want to take.

When we are traveling, we get to choose if we are going to journey by ourselves or with other people. You choose if you are traveling by car, bicycle, bus, or train. It is your choice where you want to go and how you want to get there. You can choose the shorter route or the longer route, and you get to choose if you want to use your GPS, a road map, or you may even know the way. But regardless of what you do, it is still your choice.

The grooves in the road represent the trials we are going to go through in our journey, the mistakes we are going to make, the things we are going to lose, the tears we may shed, and the faith we may lose. But we are given the choice to get back on track and continue with our journey. Traveling to our destination we are in the lane going forward while the cars on the other side are going in the opposite direction. Are you going to let those cars distract you during your journey or are you going to push forward and not look back? But the choice is yours.

Also as you travel you do not know what lies ahead of you, there may be an accident, there may be something lying in the road, there may even be a roadblock. If you allow God to take control and put Him first in your journey, there are going to be many roadblocks that are going to slow you down and try to keep you from reaching your destination but if you lift your eyes toward the hills where your help comes from, I promise that God will lead and direct your path.

In this journey of ours God gives us the advantage of making our own choices for the path we want to take. We can choose to include God on our journey or journey alone. Whatever path you choose remember that things are going to block you from going forward but when you put God first, He will be there to get you back on track.

During this fast I am reading the book of Proverbs which is the book of wisdom. I encourage you to join in as well, for there is a great word that God has in store during this month of February. Be blessed and I pray that God will give you that “𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔” 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑒𝑟𝑐𝑦that you need during your journey.
